Dennis Amiss MBE

After a career in professional cricket spanning more than 40 years at both domestic and international levels, and a background in the commercial world Dennis Amiss is renowned as a high level business manager with a top class pedigree and proven track record. Dennis has been speaking for over 35 years about teamwork, leadership and management and really engages with the audience using a combination of cricket experience and anecdotes with his extensive business knowledge.

This unique blend of business acumen combined with a sporting history second to none has provided many opportunities to build long term, highly beneficial relationships within a commercial environment. Following his career as one of England’s finest batsmen; Dennis is one of only 25 cricketers in the world ever to score over 100 centuries, he was appointed Chief Executive at Edgbaston for 12 years and has many tales of the highs and lows of running this international cricket stadium. Dennis has been Deputy Chairman of The England & Wales Cricket Board since 2007.

As part of his own management style Dennis appointed the best cricket coaches available in world cricket, as well as top international and domestic players to create a team structure unsurpassed in recent history. Off the field his clear and concise leadership and guidance were the driving force behind the creation of a management structure and support staff who in their own right became innovators and leaders helping the Club to maximise revenue potential in all areas, develop and build new corporate entertainment facilities, a state of the art indoor cricket centre, and became the highest gross generator of finances to the ECB outside of London. Among his many achievements Dennis was also awarded the great honour of receiving an MBE in 1987.

Over recent years Dennis has developed a reputation as an excellent motivational speaker who acutely understands the basic principles of achieving success in sport and business. He has some fascinating and humorous cricket stories, including those focusing on cricket legends such as Ian Botham, Brian Lara, Geoffrey Boycott, Kevin Pietersen and Freddie Flintoff.
