Axis Soul & Mowtown Band

A Tribute to the Disco and Motown Sounds of the Seventies.

The band was originally formed in the 1970’s as an 8 piece fun band “Black Gorilla”. Following their chart success with “Gimme Dat Banana” and their subsequent appearance on Top of the Pops in 1978. The band has performed at some of the top venues in the UK including Military Bases, Hotels, Nightclubs and Holiday centres such as Butlins and Haven, The band have also toured Switzerland in the late 80’s.

The Band’s name was changed to “Axis” in 1984 and was reduced to 6 members following the departure of the Brass section.

Axis continued touring the UK performing at quality Venues and making radio and TV appearances in the midlands. They also toured Switzerland again in 1990’s.

Axis now boasts an international mix of talented musicians from Jamaica, Antigua and the USA. Featuring 2 female singers ,Guitar, Bass, Drums and Keyboard their immaculate presentation is of superior quality and enthusiastic energy. Undoubtedly the live band for most occasion.

Their show is packed with Soul and Motown sounds from the 1960’s.

The Disco sounds of the 1970’s like Sister Sledge, Chic and many more artists of that era, to the modern sounds of today.
